Doris Bruleson

Doris E. (Brister) Burleson passed away with her family by her side on May 8, 2009 at Dubuis Hospital in
Alexandria.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hornbeck, on Monday, May 11, 2009 with Rev. Kevin Roberts officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service
on Monday.
Interment will follow at the Self Cemetery in Hornbeck, Louisiana under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
She is survived by two sons; Ronald Burleson (wife Aimee) of Acworth, Georgia;
Johnnie Paul Burleson, Jr (wife Rebecca) of Sugarland, Texas; two daughters, Sheryl Roach (husband David) and Darla Swanson, both of Pineville; and daughter-in-law Rebecca Burleson of The Woodlands, Texas;. “Memaw” is also survived by her ten
grandchildren, Ron Burleson, Jay Burleson, Mark Burleson, Amy Burleson D’Ambra, Lisa Burleson, John David Roach, Robbie Swanson, Danny Swanson, Jeremiah Burleson, and Julie Burleson; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She is also
survived by her brother, Charles Brister of Shreveport; and her sister, Myrtle Salim of Natchitoches, and numerous extended family members. She is preceded in death by her husband, Retired USN SHCM Johnnie Paul Burleson, Sr., two sons; Barry Ainsley
Burleson and Robert Kevin Burleson; a grandson, Paul Allen Roach, her twin sister, Dorothy (Brister) Perry; her parents, Alice Lula and Donald Edward Brister, and Nettie and Charlie Walters, the grandparents who became “Mama and Daddy” to the twins
after losing their mother at birth.
