Funeral services for Margaret M. Upshaw, 81, of Leesville will be held Saturday, December 19 at 1 p.m.
at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Joseph Garner and Rev. Dexter Upshaw, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 18 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Leesville Memorial Cemetery. Services
are under the direction of the Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville.
Mrs. Upshaw passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009, at her residence in Leesville. She was born in Newton County, Texas and moved to Leesville in the early
1940s. She was a graduate of Leesville Training School in 1946 and worked with the Vernon Parish School Board as a Paraprofessional. Mrs. Upshaw was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife for 58 years, and dearly loved
her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ira C. Upshaw.
She is survived by husband, Rev. Van B. Upshaw, Jr. of Leesville; four sons, Terry Upshaw of Leesville, Rev.
Dexter Upshaw, Sr. (wife, Joyce) of Spring, Texas, Van B. Upshaw, III of Baton Rouge, and Cedric A. Upshaw (wife, Shelley) of Baton Rouge; four daughters, Carolyn Buckles of Warner Robbins, GA, Linda King (husband, Booker) of Hephzetah, GA, Brenda
Henry of Long Beach, CA and Margarett L. Upshaw of Warner Robbins, GA; daughter-in-law, Alice Faye of Leesville; 15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
