Billy Robinson

Dr. Billy J. Robinson, 74, passed from this life on January 4, 2010 at
his residence in Leesville.
His visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Hixson
Funeral Home with the Rev. Gil Arthur officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Winnsboro on Friday at 1 p.m. under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
Survivors are his daughters,
Joanna Robinson Moore and husband Steven, Patricia Robinson Kernes and husband Tim; sons, Raymond Robinson and Phillip Robinson; sister, Jan Robinson Stroud; four grandchildren, Savannah and Ashton Moore and Andrew and Ryan Kernes, and best friend,
T.B. Porter.
Dr. Robinson was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bill Robinson and Ruby Anderson Robinson and one son, Billy Jeff Robinson.
Dr. Robinson enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of
18. He proudly served in the Gulf War from 1990-1991 and active reserves. After many years of military service, he retired in 1997 as a Lieutenant Colonel having been presented with numerous decorations and medals. He attended Southwestern College
and Oklahoma State University in veterinary medicine where he graduated in May of 1964.
Dr. Robinson established the Leesville Animal Clinic of Leesville in 1972. Thirty-four years later, he still maintained an active practice while also
serving with the U.S. Department of Agriculture from 1992-1993 as a veterinary officer. As a member of the American Angus Association since 1995, he was a very active member of the Vernon Parish Cattleman’s Association, Louisiana Cattleman’s
Association, serving as president in 2001-2002. He was also the executive board member with the National Cattleman’s Association. On February 2007, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association honored Dr. Billy Robinson with the 2006 Distinguished
Service Award. Dr. Robinson was very active in his community where he was a member of the Leesville Lions Club for many years and served as the club president. He was well known throughout the community and will be dearly missed by all.
