Edna Wise Mitchell

A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a resident of Baker, Edna Wise Mitchell died at 1:43 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2010 at Lafayette General Medical Center. She was 91, a native of Leesville and a former secretary for
Challenge Cabinet.
She took great pleasure in needlepoint and crocheting, as well as her nightly date with “Wheel of Fortune” and “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” She enjoyed the many years she spent volunteering at the
Broadmoor Arts and Crafts Festival. While being very opinionated, she was also an incredibly giving person who enjoyed meeting people and never forgetting a face.
Visitation will be at at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker,
today, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, April 29, 2010 from noon until religious services in the chapel at 2 p.m., conducted by long-time friend, Rev. Steve Johnson. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
She is survived by four sons, Robert “Bob” Mitchell and wife Alura Kay of Edmonton, Okla., James “Jim” Mitchell and wife Michelle of Leesville, John Mitchell and wife Susan of Central, and Thomas “Tom” Mitchell and wife Sheri of Breaux
Bridge; a sister, Alice Craft of Leesville; 11 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Mitchell, and eight brothers and sisters. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the
staff of ICU North at Lafayette General Medical Center, and their deepest gratitude to Lucy Simmons, for her friendship and generosity towards our mother. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Silver Creek Cemetery, 3382 Hwy. 117,
