Funeral services for John P. “Big John” Gregory, 58, of DeRidder, will be
held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in Ludington Baptist Church in DeRidder with Bro. Bruce Butt and Bro. Lonnie Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in Old Cypress Cemetery in DeRidder under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral
Home in DeRidder. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2010, and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in Ludington Baptist Church. John passed away Sunday, September 12, 2010, in his residence in
Deridder.
John was the son of David William and Martha Anna Bier Gregory, was born October 14, 1951, in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, and has lived in DeRidder since 1964. He was a welder/pipefitter for KBR at Boise in DeRidder. He was a member
of the DeRidder Optimist Club and former Optimist of the Year recipient. He was heavily involved in DeRidder Dixie Youth Baseball for twenty-six years. He was a member of Ludington Baptist Church in DeRidder.
He is survived by his wife,
Kathy Gregory of DeRidder; two sons, Michael Gregory and wife Stacy and David Gregory and wife Kathy, both of DeRidder; brother, Klaus Widmann and wife Siggi of Smyrna, Ga.; mother-in-law, Betty Cooley of DeRidder; and six grandchildren, Cory, Gage,
Gavin, Katie, Kacie and Gunner Gregory. He is also loved and survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Words of comfort may be left to the Gregory family at www.labbymemorial.com.
