Leonard Evans

On Saturday, November 13, 2010 , Leonard Evans joined the other quartets and piano players around the heavenly throne. He departed this earth at the age of 49. Leonard was born in Alexandria, but grew up as a Air Force and preacher’s kid.
He attended Jena High School in the 1970’s and started playing piano in church and for different quartets in the area with Hearts United being the last group he played for. Serving the Lord with his talents, he was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist
Church of the Toro Community where he served as Children’s Choir director. Loving to laugh and have fun, he would pick at people and was an avid antique hunter. He had worked for many years for Wal-Mart.
Services were held on Tuesday,
November 16, 2010 in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in the Toro Community of Sabine Parish at 2 p.m. with his dad, Jimmy Evans Sr., and nephew, Jimmy Evans III, officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery under direction of
Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville. Visitation was Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 3 p.m. at the church and continued until the services on Tuesday.
Leonard is survived by his parents: Rev. Jimmy Evans Sr. and mother Sharon Evans of Leesville;
one daughter, Brittney Evans of Jena; two brothers and sisters-in-Law: Rev. Edgar Evans and wife Alycia of Pickering and Jimmy Evans Jr. and wife Rebecca Ann of Ft. Eustis, Va.; one sister: FeLisha Diane Evans of Anacoco; family, friends, caregivers;
and sister and brother by choice: Debbie and E.W. McDaniel of Negreet; two grandchildren and a jost of nephews and nieces.
