Funeral services for Holice “Huck” Whitaker, Jr., 69, of Leesville, will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville with the Rev. Ross Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, December 31 and 8 a.m. until service in the funeral home Saturday, January 1.
Huck, the son of Holice Whitaker, Sr and Hattie Williams was born on March 27,
1941 in DeRidder. He passed away on Tuesday, December 28 at the Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville.
Holice worked as a carpenter building Industrial Smoke Stacks across the nation. He served in the Army. He was a member of the American
Legion Post 145, where he was Past Post Commander and was instrumental in the remodeling and improvements done to the Post. He also was the Founder and Past Post Commander of the American Legion Post 409 in Westlake, and former member of the American
Legion Post 179 in Sulpur. He was preceded in death by his father Holice Whitaker, Sr and his mother Hattie Fay Williams. He is survived by his, wife of 19 years Mary Anne Meche; Sons, Jeff and wife Brenda Whitaker all of Leesville and Kevin and
Kristal Naquin of Pearland, Texas; daughters, Julie and Ted Crawford of Cambridge, Wis., Gloria and Jeff Taton of Houston, Texas, Vicky Face of South Bend, Idaho, Mitzy and Tim Plumb of Houston, Texas, Anita and Brad Whitaker of Stoughton, Wis.;
Uncle, Grady and Gisela Whitaker of Germany; and 20 Grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
