Funeral services for Mr. James F. Pollard will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday,
August 17, 2011 in Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Pitkin with Reverends Dale Poe, J. D. Ford and Arlen Smith officiating. Mr. Dwayne Daigle will speak for the family. Interment with military honors will follow in Blue Branch Cemetery, Pitkin under the
direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pitkin.
Mr. Pollard, 85, of Cravens entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 14, 2011 in his residence with his family near his side. He was born on February 19, 1926 in Fullerton, to Amos and Minnie Lewis
Pollard.
James was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a past board member of the Pitkin Senior Center. He retired from Fort Polk as a civil service diesel mechanic and
was a past employee of Calcasieu Paper Mill. He owned Pollard’s Café and Skating Rink.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Beatrice Kelly Pollard; his parents, Amos Pollard and Minnie and Arthur Martin; his brother, Amos
Clinton Pollard and special granddaughter-in-law, Angela Doyle.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include four daughters, Betty Bihm of Conroe, Texas, Kay Speeg and her husband, Jack of Lafayette, Kathy Johnson and her
husband, C.M. of Pitkin and Sherry Schysm and her husband, Doug of Longville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Frankie Doyle, Charles Johnson, Judd McDonald, Jess McDonald, Jake McDonald and
Randy Worrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Daigle, Bill Brown, Hardy Ray Pollard, Tommy Pollard, Rod Pollard and Keith Kennedy.
Friends may call from 3-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Pitkin and from
8 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011.
