Funeral services for Rev. Gail Welch, 68, of Anacoco will be held at 2 p.m,
Sept. 22, at Good Hope Baptist Church in Anacoco with Rev. Wesley Jackson, Rev. James Kay and Rev. Les Comeaux officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at the church.
Gail, the son of Jim Olen and Edna Jewel Jeane Welch, was born July 31, 1943, in Leesville. He passed away on Sunday, Sept.
18, 2011, at his residence in Anacoco. Rev. Welch was a minister of the Gospel for 32 years serving several churches in Louisiana and Texas. His last pastorate was in Buna, Texas. Upon retiring from the ministry he joined Victory Baptist Church in
New Llano.
He served our country in the U.S. Army and worked as a mechanic at Fort Polk. Gail loved spending time with his family and fishing. But his first love was his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and his life was a testimony of his
faith to the Lord even to the end.
He was preceded in death by parents and sister, LaRue Trottie.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Virginia Ann Welch of Anacoco; sons, Rev. Chris and wife Rhonda Welch of Anacoco; Shane
and wife Erika Welch of Wayne, Ohio, and Shawn and wife Brittney Welch of Anacoco; brothers, Rev. Larry Welch and wife Elaine, Anthony Welch and Audie Welch, and wife, Sue, all of Anacoco; sister, Mary Lea Smith and husband Shelby of Florien;
brother-in-law, James and wife Charlotte Martin of Leesville; grandchildren, Daniel and wife Jessica Ruiz, Nicholas Ruiz, Adria Welch, EvanLeigh Welch, Tristen Welch, Trinity Welch, Brooklynn Welch & Bryce Welch.
