Funeral services for Miriam Chavez Kay, 61 of Leesville will be held at 11
a.m. on March 7 at Canaan Baptist Church, on La. 8 West, with Bro. Morris Goins officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. on
March 6 until the time of service Wednesday at the church.
Miriam, the daughter of José and Maria Chavez, was born on Jan. 29, 1951 in Colón, Panama. She passed away on March 3, 2012, at Byrd Regional Hospital in Leesville from ALS. Mrs.
Kay loved the 1950 and 1960s music, watching television and going to the movies. She loved playing with her grandchildren and cooking her family their favorite meals.
She was preceded in death by her mother Maria Chavez, father-in-law,
Monford Kay and mother-in-law, Lavon Kay.
She is survived by her husband, Tommy Kay of Leesville; daughter, Stacy Kay Walters of Alexandria; sons, Clint Kay and wife Devon of Anacoco and Christopher Kay of Leesville; father and stepmother,
José and Lena Chavez of Hornbeck; brothers, Victor Chavez of Houston and Richard Chavez of DeRidder; and grandchildren, Connor, Katelyn, Barrett, Layton, Payton and Andrew.
