Mildred Payton

Funeral services for Mildred L. Ligions Payton, 77, of Leesville will be
held at noon on June 9 at the Johnson Temple Church of God In Christ with Rev. Harrison Fields officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation
will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service on June 9 at the church.
Mrs. Mildred L. Ligions Payton was born on Sept. 4, 1934, to the late Arthur and Ethel Ligions of Clearview, Okla. She met and married Carl E. Payton, Sr. in
1954. To this union 122 children were born, nine boys and three girls.
Mrs. Mildred L. Payton moved to Leesville in 1967, where she united with the New Willow Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her family and friends. She was a
compassionate and loving person, always willing to share with everyone anyway she could. Mrs. Payton was very much loved in the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl. E. Payton, Sr.; two sisters, Oneva Woods and
Florence Hockett; one brother, Robert Colbert and two sons, Rhodes Payton and Claude Payton.
She leaves to cherish her memory, seven sons, Carl E. Payton Jr. (Sandra), Carl E. Payton III, Jeffery Payton (Lynn), Bruce Payton, Stanley Payton
(Lucille), Paul Payton and Jason Payton (April); three daughters, Jacquelyn Payton Fisher, Charline Payton Rhodes (Leonard) and Paula Payton Hawkins; three brothers, Theodore Ligions, Andrew Ligions and Charles Peoples; two sisters, Ida Mae Brown and
Betty Jean Lambert; one brother-in-law, Joel Payton; one sister-in-law, Naomi Brown; 25 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
