Marie D. Prewitt

Funeral services for Marie D. Prewitt, 95, of Anacoco, will be held at
10:30 a.m. on Dec. 3 at Toledo Bend Baptist Church with Bros. Bill Russell, Larry Bryant and Milton Rawles officiating. Burial will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery in Anacoco, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. on Dec. 2 at the church.
Marie, the daughter of Charlie and Hattie Brown Davis, was born March 8, 1917, in Hornbeck. She passed away on Dec. 1, 2012, in Leesville.
Mrs. Prewitt was
born in Plainview, which is now Hodges Gardens. When she was 19 she married her husband, Hollis, and moved to Anacoco. She worked as an aide in the Broyles Hospital and Kurthwood Manor, where she sat with the elderly. She also worked at the Vernon
Parish Library. She was faithful to her God and her church her entire life. She cooked the best macaroni and tomato salad. If you got sick, she would swab your throat with turpentine and sugar. Mrs. Prewitt learned the computer when she was 82 in
order to work at the Louisiana Lions Camp. In 2008, she became a resident at The Woodlands Retirement Center in Leesville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hollis Prewitt and grandson, Gregory Bush.
Mrs.
Prewitt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Octivee and Billie Bush of Anacoco; son and daughter-in-law, Audel and Marcella Prewitt of Anacoco; one sister, Mildred Jones of Anacoco; one sister-in-law, Mary Prewitt of Anacoco; four
grandchildren, Pam and Monty Orme, Kayoka and Jonathan Shuler, Kevin and MaryGel Prewitt, and Sherrie and Mark Sterling; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Monty Orme, Jonathan Shuler,
Mark Sterling, Carl Comeaux, Greg O’Quinn and Colby Shuler.
