Funeral services for James Dwight Thompson will be held at 5 p.m. on June
242 at the Fullerton Baptist Church of Fullerton, with the Rev. Billy Harrington and Bro. Pat Austin officiating. Committal services will follow in the church cemetery, under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home of Oakdale.
Dwight, 41,
of Leesville, entered eternal rest on June 22, 2013 in the Byrd Regional Medical Center of Leesville. He was born on Feb. 13, 1972 in Alexandria to Sherwood Thompson and Clara Marie Singletary Thompson. He was a member of the Fullerton Baptist
Church, a Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Deputy, and he was a member of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association. He loved hunting, fishing and family cookouts. He also was a loving husband, father, uncle and cousin.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, Sherwood and Clara Thompson; son, Brandon Thompson; and a close cousin, Jackie Singletary.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, wife of 23 years, Sybil Thompson of Leesville; daughter, Whitney Thompson of
Leesville; cousin, Wanda Pritchard, husband and daughter Michael and Kendra Calcote, all of Pitkin; nephews, Davy Haymon and wife Trish, Casey Haymon, Jody Haymon, Chasidy Lavergne, Alec Lavergne, Ryan Lavergne, Conner Mitchell, Wyett Sasser, Justin
McCann and son Eli; great-nephews, Cayden Lane Haymon, Jordan Cotton and Kaleb Davis; great-niece, Breanna Davis; best friends and brothers for life, Christopher Mitchell and wife Chrissy of Leesville, and Todd Sasser and wife Andrea of Pitkin; and a
host of cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Christopher Mitchell, Davy Haymon, Casey Haymon, Jody Haymon, Orie Manes, and Robert Gierisch. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Pritchard, Todd Sasser, Conner Mitchell, Rodney
Sweat, Bobby Stanley, and Vernon Correction Facilty.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. on June 23 until the time of services on June 24 at the church.
