Services honoring the life of Marjorie “Margie”
Price-Sparlin will be held at 6 p.m. on Aug. 13 at the Hicks United Pentecostal Church in Hicks, with Pastor Lorraine Smith and Greg Mortenson officiating. Burial will follow in the Hicks United Pentecostal Cemetery in Hicks, under the guidance of
Jeane’s Funeral Service of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Aug. 12 at The Church House on La. 28, and from 1-6 p.m. on Aug. 13 at Hicks United Pentecostal Church.
Margie, 65, was born July 7, 1948 to Frank
and Camille Nelson Gordy in Leesville. She was a 1966 graduate of Hicks High School, where she was a member of the 1966 state championship girls basketball team, and was voted most athletic in her Senior class. She was a retired LSU AgCenter
secretary. She was a vital part of the Vernon Parish 4-H livestock program, where she was adopted 4-H mom for many children.
She was a charter member of The Church House, where she served as the treasurer and sang in the choir.
She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Robert “Bob” Sparlin Jr. of Slagle; daughter, Michelle Price Mitchell and husband James “Jim” Mitchell of Leesville; son, Frank Allen Price and wife Pam of Leesville; adopted son, William Henry Baugh
of Leesville; sisters, Virginia Bennett and niece Debra Bennett of Leesville, Carolyn Beebe and husband Barry Beebe of Lena, and Linda Powell and husband Herbert Powell of Richmond, Ky.; grandchildren, Mason R. Basco of Slagle, and Amanda Michelle
Basco of Slagle; and great-grandchildren, Lillian Camille Wellman. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse F. “Sonny” Price; parents, Frank and Camille Gordy; brother, Douglas H. Gordy; and brother-in-law, Ray Bennett.
Services are under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service of Leesville.
