Florence, the daughter of Murry “Mert” and Velma
Knapp Hunt, was born on September 21, 1931, in Leesville. She passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2016, in Erath.
Florence was a larger than life figure to her children. They all believed she could do anything-only because she could. She
had a strong love of God, of family, and of her country. She raised her children to know God, and she tirelessly witnessed to others; not only in her words but in her actions. She loved her family. No matter what happened, her children knew they
could call on her and she would support them.
She loved her country. She worked as role player at Fort Polk for the last decade of her life. She fiercely loved the military men and women and was determined to do her share to help them
survive. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. As her sister said, it is hard to imagine a world without her in it.
Mother, we love you and are so grateful you were ours.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; husband, Rufus E. Lane, Jr.; daughter, Metha Jean Ambrose; brother, Raymond Hunt; sister, Dorothy Inwood, and grandchildren, Megan Ambrose, Jason Vice and Jules Vice.
She is survived by her sons, Bradley Lane of Leesville and
David Lane of Leesville; daughters, Janis Lane Belaire and husband Allen Belaire of Erath and Joyce Lane of Erath; brothers, Glen Ray Hunt, Clyde Hunt and Gilbert Hunt; sisters, Frances Gardsbane, Evelyn Rose and Juanita Hagan; grandchildren, Shane
Belaire, Stacy Belaire, Jennifer Comeaux, Justin Ambrose, Norman Ambrose, Holly Lane, Chelshea Lane and Kymber Lane; numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
