A celebration of life for Maxine (Self) Walters
will take place at Crossroads Church in Harrison, Arkansas Thursday, March 31, 2016, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 PM Thursday at the church prior to the service. Burial will be Saturday, April 2, 2016, in Pine Island Cemetery, Simpson,
Louisiana, under the direction of Roller-Christeson of Harrison and Hixon of Leesville, Louisiana. Maxine moved to her Heavenly home Tuesday, March 29, 2016, in the care of Hospice of the Hills of Harrison.
Born April 15, 1925 in Sieper,
Louisiana, Maxine was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother and Granny to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Alice Mae Self, of Simpson; her husband of 62 years, Willie Walters; two sisters, Alva Mae Johnston and
Adrienne Bordelon; and her brother, William Self.
Through the years she enjoyed serving her church as a Sunday school teacher, secretary and treasurer. She was a participant in women’s ministries and community garden groups. Maxine enjoyed
super star status as an on-line Scrabble player among her family and friends.
Maxine is survived by her three children and their spouses, James L. and Ann Walters of Leesville, Louisiana, Madalyn and Fred Hilliard of Fort Meade, Florida,
and Johnny and Lisa Walters of Harrison, Arkansas; two sisters, Marcella Beaubouef of Deville, Louisiana and Mary Foster of Madera, California; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and scores of nieces, nephews
and friends.
