Memorial services for Linda Sue King Simmons will
be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at
First Christian Church, Leesville.
Linda Sue was born on January 18, 1941 in Leesville to Richard and Lola King and passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 in Sulphur.
She
attended school in Leesville where she was a 1958 graduate of LHS and, furthering her
education, attended N.S.U. where she majored and attained her Master’s degree in Education. She
taught math and english in Leesville and
then moved to New Orleans where she taught until her
retirement.
Loving her hometown, she moved back to Leesville and became involved in the LHS Alumni Association, the Leesville Mayors Women’s Commission where she was
instrumental in planting the pear trees along Hwy. 171 and flowers around Leesville.
Her love for knowledge continued with a passion for reading. Dancing to the 50’s style music and
being a member of Leesville First Christian
Church filled her days with happiness. Her greatest
joy was being a loving mother and grandmother.
Preceding her in death were her parents and sister.
Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law. John and Pam Simmons
of Leesville; step-
daughter and son-in-law: Michelle Romero Wheeler and husband Mike of Littleton, Colo.; sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Sonny Berry of Leesville; grandson: Kyle Andrew Simmons of New Orleans,.
The family
requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Leesville First Christian Church or
to the LHS Alumni Association.
