Funeral services for
Betty Frances Walker Behan will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Hornbeck, 2342 Stillwell Avenue, with Rev. Jack Bell and Rev. Kenneth
Baggs officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery,
Hornbeck, under the direction of Jeane’s
Funeral Service.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, from 5 – 9 p.m. at the church.
Betty Frances Walker Behan was born on September 2, 1928, to Thomas and
Laura Dowden Walker in Hornbeck. She passed away on July 4, 2016, in Leesville, at the age of 87.
Mrs. Behan was a lifel-ong resident of the Hornbeck area and a 1946 graduate of Hornbeck High School.
In 1946, Betty met and
married William Odell Behan, Sr. They were married for 61 years until his death in 2008. She worked for Jett’s Store “forever” and finished her working career at Gass Grocery. Betty will be remembered as a faithful Christian mother. Her children
describe her as a rare jewel. For more than 60 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Hornbeck.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Laura Walker; brother, Guy Porter; sisters, Pearl Spears, Velma Richie,
Elma Gass, and Jirlene Spears; and son-in- law: Ray Kyle.
She is survived by her sons, Dale and Linda Behan of Ft. Worth, Texas and William and Velva Behan, Jr. of Anacoco; daughter, Shirley Kyle of Leesville; brother: T.J. and Betty
Walker of Ft. Worth;
sister, Maxine and Edward Bridges of Leesville; grandchildren, William Dale Behan, Laura Davis, Whitney Martin, Krystal Stevens, Nikol Weeks, Tracy Manning, and Brenda Norris; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Behan’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Greg Lord and the staff at The Woodlands Healthcare Center for their care and compassion.
