Funeral services for Bruce Slaydon, 79, of Anacoco will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville, with Rev. Mark Christian and Myron Erwin officiating. Burial will follow in the
Cooper Cemetery in Pickering, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the funeral home.
Bruce, the son of Willie Guy and Pearl
Annie Gosnell Slaydon, was born on September 17, 1936 in Leesville. He passed away on Friday, July 29, 2016 at his residence.
Bruce served in the US Army for three years and was a Korean War veteran, then he retired as a mail carrier for
Route 1 from the U.S. Postal Service in Leesville after 27 years. His passion was fishing and watching sports. Bruce truly loved his family and spending time with them.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Willie Guy
“Bill Jr.” Slaydon, Dorothy Pertain, Margie O’Banion, Connie Erwin and Herman Charles Slaydon.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Slaydon; son, Bruce Alan (wife, Sherry) Slaydon; daughter, Rosanna (husband, Rusty) Hawkins, all
of Anacoco; brother, Fred Slaydon of Pollock; grandchildren, Nickayla Corbitt, Dustin Bise, Chelsea Bise and Tiffany Benitez; great-grandchildren, Michael Molleda, Robert Flynn Corbitt, IV, Lillian Cox, Gabriel Edwards, Elijah Lee Bise, Leelan Bise,
Joshua Mack, Trinity Mack, Isabel Benitez, Sara Benitez, Karlene Benitez and A. J. Benitez.
