Funeral services for Murvis E. Walker, 94, of
Leesville will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, April 8th at the Hicks United Pentecostal Church, with Rev. Greg Mortensen and Rev Dale Mortensen officiating. Burial will follow in the Hicks Cemetery, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be Friday, April 7th from 4 pm until 9 pm at the Leesville First United Pentecostal Church, then Saturday, April 8th from 10 am until service time at the Hicks United Pentecostal Church.
Murvis, the
son of William and Lennie Hall Walker, was born in Leesville and passed away Tuesday, April 4th in Leesville, LA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 61 years Verda Walker, brother, Wayburn Walker and sister, Johnnie Brown.
Murvis loved to socialize and to hunt, especially with his beagles and to fish. However, more than anything he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an US Army World War II Veteran, having fought at the Battle of the Bulge.
He is survived by his children; Roland Zills of Rosepine, Francis Ellmer of Lake Charles; Sandy (husband Mickey) Perkins of Anacoco and Joetta (husband Donald) Karamales of Anacoco; sister Louvenia LaCaze of Hicks; grandchildren, Greg Zills, Tim
Marcus, Jeff Marcus, Melissa Guillory, Misty Green and Amanda Hillman; 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
