On September 2, 1977, a star was born named
Phyllis Saroya Lapsley to Thomas and Wanda
Lapsley. Phyllis accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Johnson Temple Church of God
and Christ. She was free-spirited, witty, and compassionate. She always knew how to
make
those around her laugh. After being diagnosed in 2007 with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma,
Phyllis made it a point to witness to others fighting the fight against cancer.

She, being the fighter that she
was, did not let her diagnosis defeat her. Phyllis went on to obtain a Bachelor’s
of Science degree in Social Science and a minor in Psychology.

She leaves to cherish her memory – her father and mother, Thomas and
Wanda Lapsley
