Mrs. Hazel Oakes Jeane, 97, went to be with her
Lord Monday, August 21, 2017. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 22nd from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Cooper Baptist Church in Leesville, LA. A celebration of life will be held August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at Cooper Baptist. She was born August 17, 1920, to the
late John E. and Lola Sellers Oakes in a country home next door to Fort Polk.
She graduated from Pickering High School and received a degree in three years in home economics from La. Tech. Prior to her teaching, she was a supervisor at one
of the mess halls on Fort Polk. She retired after 34 years of teaching.
She loved her Lord and served Him through ministering with joy to others. For 50 + years, she taught Sunday School and was a faithful member of First
Baptist Church Bloomington, Texas and Cooper Baptist Church, Leesville, LA. She enjoyed her family and giving to others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, John R. Jeane; her sister, Mildred
Oakes Cannon; and her brother, Travis Oakes.
She is survived by her loving family:
Daughter, Glynda Jean Baker and husband Sonny of Huntsville, TX
Son: Kenny Jeane and wife Ivy of Leesville
Four
grandchildren: Chad and his wife Tracy Jeane of Greenbrier, AR; Justin and his wife Jayme Jeane of Greenbrier, AR; Trey and his wife Brooke Baker of Conroe, TX; and Jane and her husband Brent Maresh of New Braunfels, TX
Six great
grandchildren: Katherine and AnnaBeth Jeane, Fisher and Brooke Jeane, and Elizabeth and Brody Maresh.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Baker, Ronald Jeane, Chad Jeane, Justin Jeane, Trey Baker, and Brent Maresh.

We are so very thankful for family and friends. She was a shining example to us and her community. One of her greatest
pleasures was cooking and sharing with others. We were so blessed to have had the privilege to have her in our lives.
