Leland Cornelius Lenahan, II, was born on January
23, 1938 in Toledo, Louisiana, to Leland Cornelius and Burnadine Slay Lenahan. He was the third and final child and only son, joining his sisters Louise (later wife to Deloy Ross) and Lelia, who grew to adore their little brother. The family moved
from the Sabine River, where his father ran Hadden’s Ferry, to Lee Hills in Leesville, where his mother ran Lenahan’s Dry Goods and his father taught math at Leesville Junior High. After graduating from Leesville High School in 1956, he attended
several universities before graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Mathematics. Later he would continue his education obtaining degrees in Business and Education. Soon after graduating from NSU, Leland met and married the love of
his life Vernia Gotreaux, and the couple ultimately settled in Anacoco to raise their four children. Leland worked in many areas including accountant at Ross Continental Motor Lodge, math teacher at Leesville Junior High, and math instructor at
Northwestern State University, before purchasing a convenient store on Highway 171 in Anacoco.

For 25 years, Leland faithfully served the area as proprietor of Lenahan’s Grocery. In 1993, Leland lost his wife to cancer, and 7
years later was blessed to find love and companionship again when he married Suzanne Sanders Tilley. Suzanne, more popularly known as “Tinee” and Leland spent 14 years together finding love and purpose again, before Tinee too passed. In the final
months of his life, Leland took great comfort in the care of his four children, whom he considered his greatest legacy and most enduring accomplishment. He appreciated the continued devotion and commitment of his friends who were faithful to him
through the many months of his illness.

Leland was a faithful son to his father and especially to his mother, a devoted brother to his two sisters, a loving and faithful husband to his wives, a model father to his children,
and a loyal and generous friend to everyone around him. His sense of humor, his complete acceptance of people, and his model of generosity and goodness will be missed by all who knew him.

Leland is preceded in death by his

He is survived by his sons Leland C. Lenahan, III, M.D., and wife Christy of Lafayette; John E. Lenahan and wife Michelle of Anacoco; daughters Bernadine Lenahan and husband Tommy Bolton
