The family of Jimmie Goldia Britt Burns announces February 17, 2018 as the glorious day Jimmie transitioned from this world to spend eternity with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her family rejoices she’s now with Jesus and the many
Christian family members and friends who went before her.

Jimmie was a member of East Leesville Baptist Church since 1948 where she taught young children God’s Word for many years. She vigorously shared her Christian faith
with her children and grandchildren as well as many others.

Jimmie was born on April 2, 1930 in DeBerry, Texas, to John Henry Britt and Eula Essie Brooks Britt. She grew up in Many, LA (Sabine Parish). Shortly after high
school graduation, she and her family moved to Leesville, LA. Jimmie’s husband, parents and three brothers (Gerald, Royce, and Quinton) preceded her in the transition from this earthly home to their heavenly home with Jesus. Jimmie’s one sister,
Newlyn Faye Britt Vines of Houston, Texas, survives her.

Jimmie and her husband, Overton Brown (O.B.) Burns, Sr., raised their four children in Leesville, LA. Her surviving children are Ellen Mount and husband Ben Mount of
Leesville, LA. and Cheri Ann Burns and husband Rev. Kemper Smith of Eunice, LA. Her daughter, Barbara Burns Celiz, and son, Overton Brown Burns, Jr., preceded her in death. She was the grandmother to eleven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and
one great, great grandchild.

Jimmie was always busy taking care of others. She was a personal caregiver for her parents, her brother, and her husband during their senior years and illness preceding their death. She was a
special friend to so many who needed a visit during times of sadness or loneliness.
Jimmie was retired from a thirty-year civil service career at Fort Polk. She was a strong lady who inspired her children to also be strong to take care of
self, family, and those who are less fortunate.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Leesville. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery
in LaCamp. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday in the Funeral Home.
