Funeral services for Douglas Dwain Perkins, Sr.
will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Nolde, Brother Damon Johnson, and Reverend Larry White officiating. Committal service will follow in the Blue Branch Cemetery under the
direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Douglas, 85, of Pitkin, entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Westwood Manor in DeRidder. He was born March 17, 1933 in Oakdale to the union of Cecil Perkins and Gladys Parker
Perkins. In 1952, he graduated from Pitkin High School. At an early age, Douglas enjoyed bull riding and rodeos. Before retiring, Mr. Perkins was an iron worker and worked in the papermill. He was a Gideon. Playing his guitar with family and friends,
was one of his most enjoyable pastimes. He will be greatly missed by his children, siblings, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Gladys Perkins; his wife of 61 years,
Billie Rae Perkins; one sister, Geraldine Calmes; three brothers, Donald Perkins, Bobby Jean Perkins, and Raymond Cecil Perkins.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: two sons, Doug Perkins, Jr. of New York City, New York and Terry
Perkins (Dianna) of Houma; two daughters, Pam Brister (David) of Leesville and Lana Cobb of Alexandria; one brother, Windell Perkins of Pitkin; one sister, Weeda Sue O’Connell of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; along with a
host of family and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be his family and friends.
Visitation will be held in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Wednesday, December 19,
2018 from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
