Rosepine junior quarterback Ethan Frey has already committed to playing collegiate baseball at Louisiana State University.
He may want to pump the breaks a bit as he was chosen recently as the Offensive Most Valuable Player on the All-Vernon Parish football team, leading his team to the second round of the playoffs.
Another postseason accolade has landed in Frey's lap as he was chosen by the coaches of District 5-2A as the Offensive MVP after a stellar 2020 campaign.
Frey was one of 11 Rosepine Eagles honored by the coaches with either first or second-team recognition.
Joining Frey as a first-team all-district selection were running back Grant Ducote, tight end Cole Donahue, wide receiver Bryant Merriwether, offensive lineman Waylon Leslie, linebacker Caden Stephens and defensive back Bailey Savoie.
Second-team all-district picks for Rosepine were wide receiver Jake Smith, athlete Isaiah Stinson, defensive lineman Cross Thomason and linebacker David Schlittenhard.
Pickering had nine players named to the squad, including five on the first team. Those players were running back Deon Street, wide receivers DeShawn Jackson and Evan Fernandez, defensive back Landon Hoskins and flex player Michael Woods.
Quarterback Marlon Freeney, offensive lineman Cameron Blackwell, defensive lineman Daniel Stier and linebacker Savion Adams were second-team picks for the Red Devils.
Kinder linebacker Bryce Laughlin was chosen as the Defensive MVP in the district, leading his team to the state finals.
