ANACOCO – Two things had to happen on Tuesday for Anacoco to have a shot at winning an outright district softball championship.

First and foremost, they had to beat Fairview. Secondly, the Lady Indians needed a Pitkin loss to Elizabeth.

Check and check.

Anacoco scored all three of its runs in the fourth inning and held on to score a 3-2 victory over the Lady Panthers.

And when word arrived that Elizabeth had beaten Pitkin, 6-3, the Lady Indians (16-14, 6-2) had officially won their first district title since 2017.

But it almost wasn't going to happen as the Lady Panthers (11-7, 5-3) scored two runs in the top of the first as both Rylee Jinks and Rylee Cloud scored, while Maylee Stanley drove in a run, allowing Fairview to take the lead.

The game remained at that same score until the fourth inning when sisters Ava and Bailey Davis, along with Jaiden Craft, each had an RBI as Anacoco took control.

Bailey Davis took over from there as she limited Fairview to just three hits in the contest, striking out 11 in the contest.

Reagan Stanley had a hit and a run scored to aid the Anacoco cause.

Andre Stanley suffered the loss despite giving up just three runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
