A local athlete will get the opportunity to play softball at the collegiate level. ShaeLa Lawrence is a Senior at Pickering High School and she has officially signed her letter of intent to play college softball for Hinds Community College in Raymond Mississippi.

Lawrence received a scholarship to cover her tuition and fees. She signed her letter of intent at a special ceremony held at Pickering High School on Wednesday, April 28.

It was a special day for Lawrence, as she signed her letter of intent surrounded by her family, friends, coaches, and teammates. Everyone in attendance watched proudly as she signed on the dotted line, and took one big step towards the future.  

Lawrence thanked everyone who supported her and the team this year. She expressed her gratitude towards everyone who consistently came to games, fundraisers, and events to support the team over the past year.
