HATHAWAY — Bella Smith proved she’s a lethal shot from downtown.
Smith drained 11 three-pointers as the Fairview Lady Panthers downed the Jennings Lady Bulldogs at the recent Hathaway Tournament last weekend, 81-53.
Smith made five three-pointers in the first half and drilled six more triples in the second half en route to her career-best scoring performance, netting a total of 37 points. And for good measure, she added a couple of two-point baskets.
Fairview built a 23-14 lead at the end of the first period over the Lady Bulldogs and used an 18-17 advantage during the second period to open up a 10-point cushion at the intermission, 41-31.
Smith scored a couple of more three-pointers in the third period as Fairview went on a 24-8 run to break things open. The fourth quarter was much the same as Smith made four more threes as the Lady Panthers closed out the contest with a 16-14 scoring edge.
Ella Reeves and Rylee Cloud were also in double figures for the Lady Panthers with 16 and 13 points, respectively.
B. Doucet paced Jennings with 20 points.
