The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission gave their monthly Civic Beautification Awards for December. The residential award winners were Aric and Angela Jones. The Jones’ home was recognized for their Christmas decorations, orange tree and walkway lined with home-grown vegetable plants.

The business award winner for the month of December was Brenda’s Kitchen, a restaurant located at 114 Third St.. Owned by Brenda Sanchez, the restaurant offers a big selection of Puerto Rican dishes.

The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission is a group designed to assist the mayor with civic projects in Leesville. The Commission was founded in 1992, and members work alongside other groups and organizations for the betterment of the local community. Members are appointed by the mayor of Leesville, and work to represent the Leesville community.

The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Leesville City Hall.
