The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission recently presented their January 2022 Civic Awards for Beautification.

The residential winner was Malinda Farris, who lives at 106 Allen Ave. Farris recently retired from Walmart after 32 years. She said she enjoys doing her own yard work and can often be spotted playing fetch withher dachshund.

The commercial winner was the Leesville Post Office located at 303 South 3rd St. The Post Office is known for decorating for various holidays all year round. They currently have their Valentine’s Day decorations on display.

The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission is a group designed to assist the Mayor with civic projects in Leesville. The Commission was founded in 1992, and members work alongside other groups and organizations for the betterment of the local community. Members are appointed by the Mayor of Leesville, and work to represent the Leesville community.

The Leesville Mayor’s Women’s Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at Leesville City Hall.
