Lady Eagles roll; Lady Cats, Pickering fall

ROSEPINE — It seems as if the Rosepine Lady Eagles are back on track.
The No. 7 Lady Eagles had a trio of players score in double figures on Thursday night in the opening round of the Class 2A playoffs, where they took care of No. 26 Delcambre, 66-25.
With the victory, the Lady Eagles advanced to a second-round home game on Monday against No. 10 French Settlement, which was also victorious in first round play on Thursday.
The Lady Eagles claimed a 15-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and used a 14-4 run in the second to move out to a 29-9 advantage at the halftime break.
It was all Rosepine in the third quarter as the Lady Eagles put together a 22-4 outburst to open up an insurmountable advantage, going into the final frame with a commanding lead, 51-13.
From there, Rosepine salted the game away and lived to play at least one more game.
Navaeh Rivera led the way with 22 points, while Kelly Norris finished with 18 points. Addison Fruge chipped in with 10 points.
Arniyah Decuire paced Delcambre with 12 points.

NEW ORLEANS – The No. 30 Leesville Lady Cats gave the third-seeded Lady Cougars of Edna Karr all they wanted in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs on Thursday night, with Karr claiming a 63-48 win.
Karr managed to open the game with a 16-8 run in the first quarter, but the Lady Cats rallied to close the gap to five points at the halftime break, 24-19.
The Lady Cougars came out of the locker room with a vengeance thanks to an 18-5 run. But Leesville continued to claw its way back into contention, trimming the deficit to single digits during the fourth quarter.
However, the Lady Cats were unable to overcome the deficit as Edna Karr held on for the win.
Senior Amaya Thomas and Jade LeDay each had 14 points to lead the Lady Cats in the loss, while Shyann McCummings chipped in with 13 points.

CAMPTI — The second-ranked Lakeview Lady Gators proved to have too many weapons on Thursday night as four players scored in double figures in a Class 2A first-round playoff win against the No. 31 Pickering Lady Red Devils, 71-37.
With the win, the Lady Gators take to the road in the second round, where they will face No. 18 Port Allen on Monday.
Lakeview opened the game with a huge run, taking a 30-11 lead at the end of the first period. The Lady Gators continued their torrid scoring pace in the second as they used a 23-13 edge to claim a 53-24 advantage going into the break.
The Lady Gators piled on 16 more points in the third quarter as they coasted to the victory.
Freshman Janaiya Fisher led Lakeview with 22 points, while older sister Jameisha Fisher tallied 17 points. Timberlyn Washington added 13 points, while Trinity Browder notched 12 points.
Pickering senior Alexus Hood bombed in seven three-pointers en route to a game-high 25 points.
