Lady Indians upset second-ranked Bell City

BELL CITY — Last year, the Anacoco Lady Indians upended the Bell City Lady Bruins en route to Sulphur.
Saturday afternoon, it happened once again.
Ava Davis, Jaiden Craft, Hanna Jackson and Brooklyn Bryant all had two hits, while Bailey Davis scattered seven hits across seven innings as the seventh-seeded Lady Indians knocked off No. 2 Bell City, 8-4.
With the victory, the Lady Indians advanced to the Class B semifinals and a matchup with the Oak Hill Lady Rams. The Lady Indians are now 24-8 on the season.
It didn’t take long for Anacoco to take the lead as the Lady Indians scored four runs to open the game. Bell City responded with a run in the bottom of the frame, but Anacoco managed to push two more runs across in the third to claim a 6-1 lead.
The Anacoco advantage grew to 8-1 in the fourth inning when Hannah Jackson connected on a 2-run homer.
Bell City responded with two in the fourth inning and added a run in the sixth, but the Lady Bruins were unable to score again, falling to the Lady Indians.
Bailey Davis gave up four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and seven walks. She also had a hit and an RBI. Ava Davis had a pair of hits, including a double, with a run scored, while Craft had two hits and an RBI.
Jackson finished with two hits, including a homer, and two RBIs, while Bryant had a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Mea Herpin took the loss pitching as she lasted just two innings. Kirstyn Simmons had a pair of hits, while Kamryn Benham had a double and two RBIs.
