Damaging wind gusts, large hail and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning will be the primary hazards with a line of thunderstorms expected to arrive in Southwest Louisiana on Saturday.
Widespread rainfall amounts are likely in the half-an-inch range, said Doug Cramer, warning coordination meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office.
The thunderstorms are expected to arrive Saturday afternoon into the evening.
Strong northwest wind gusts ranging from 30 to 40 knots will be possible over the near shore and outer waters, Cramer said. High seas are likely with these winds with larger than normal wave heights, he said.
