SW La. not done with wet weather forecasts

Southwest Louisiana is looking at another round of heavy rainfall and possible flash flooding Thursday and Friday — along with a low-end risk for severe weather.
The combination of an upper-level storm system and an incoming front containing an abundance of moisture will provide the perfect combination for periods of heavy rainfall starting Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service’s Lake Charles office reports.
The disturbance is expected to move across the region Thursday afternoon, producing widespread heavy rain with embedded thunderstorms. A few of these storms will have the potential to become severe.
Periods of heavy rain with high rainfall rates will pose a risk for flash flooding.
Lake Charles is expected to see its first bit of rainfall at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, lasting to about 6 a.m. Friday morning.
Another upper-level disturbance will cross the region Friday into Friday night, producing more widespread heavy rain with possible thunderstorms.
Friday’s storms could hit between 3-6 p.m.
