JACK COLVIN

Dr. Jack M. Colvin, 96, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, in a local care center.
He was a native of Jonesboro and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1949. Dr. Colvin was a member of the American Optometric Association and
the Louisiana Optometric Association, in which he also served as a Aember of the board of directors. He also was a past president of the Sulphur Lions Club and had received the Lion of the Year Award, was a forming member of the Krewe of Cosmos, and
was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur. He was the best fisherman not to have caught a 10-pound bass.
Survivors include his son, Jack R. Colvin of Sulphur; his daughter, Patricia A. Colvin Guthridge of Houston, Texas; one
sister, Peggy Ross of Canton, Texas; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two spouses, Myrtle Colvin and Johnnie E. Colvin; two brothers, Lionel Colvin and Lindy Colvin and nine sisters, Grace Colvin, Bernie
Bonsall, Belton Jones, Maurine Lambert, Jimmie Parra, Margarite May, Christine Logue, Geraldine Ketchum and Mary Fischer.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 17, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Dr. David Holder
will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday in the funeral home.
