TOMBALL, Texas Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Addie Estelle
Kile Boyter, 86, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010, at the Tomball Regional Hospital, Tomball, Texas, after a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hixon’s Funeral Home, 508 South 5th
Street, Leesville. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday evening, January 8, 2010.
Addie was born in Kisatchie, November 25, 1923. A story is told that her father, Devie Kile, had just purchased a new truck on the day of her
birth. A heavy rain prevented him from bringing the new vehicle up the muddy slope to their home, so a conflicted father spent the day running back and forth to see both his new daughter and the new truck.
Addie graduated from
Kisatchie High School in the spring of 1941. She had met Bill Boyter when he moved to Kisatchie during their fourth grade year, completely unaware that he would be her life partner for 66 years after their marriage, September 10, 1943. Bill was home
on leave prior to departure for service in the US Army in Europe during World War II. Addie served her country as manager for several Western Union offices throughout Louisiana, offering an invaluable service to members of the military and their
families.
After the war, Bill and Addie settled in Pineville to raise their family and live their lives, soon becoming active members of Trinity Baptist Church. Addie became a beautician, developing a considerable practice. However,
their goal was always to return to their roots and have a home in Kisatchie. This dream was realized with the completion of their house on the Kisatchie Falls Road in 1968. This home became the center of the Bill Boyter family universe for the next
forty years. Church work, farming and family defined their existence throughout this time. Somewhere along the way, Bill and Addie became avid travelers in their RV, visiting all forty-eight of the contiguous states. Their family would often receive
a phone call stating the two were leaving on a journey and would let everyone know when they returned.
Declining health required a move to Texas to be near family. Addie’s health worsened, resulting in a move to an area nursing home
where she lived out her days among many friends.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, James William (Bill) Boyter, children Dennis Boyter and his wife, Judy of Spring, Texas; daughter Sherri Boyter of Spring, Texas;
grandchildren Denise Denny of Huntsville, Texas, Chris Denny and his wife Ela of Houston; Tanya Goode and her husband John of Spring; great grandaughter Maya Goode; sister Arlene Elder of Pineville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express appreciation to the staff and residents of Park Manor Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center of Tomball, Texas, as well the staff of Tomball Regional Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to
the Alzheimers Association (http://www.alz.org/) or the charity of your choice.
