Funeral services for Noel D. Townsend, Sr., 78, of DeRidder, will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 7, 2010, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in DeRidder, with Rev. Bill Warrean officiating. Burial will follow with full military
graveside services in Beauregard Cemetery in DeRidder.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010, and from 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in the funeral home in
DeRidder.
Noel was born in Georgia and has lived in DeRidder for a number of years. He retired as a Sgt. 1st Class from the US Army after 21 years of service. Further, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict with two tours. After he
retired from the Army he was employed by the U. S. Civil Service at Fort Polk, where he retired a number of years later. In his spare time he loved working in his yard.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Townsend of
DeRidder; sons, Charles Townsend of DeRidder and Noel “Zeek” Townsend, Jr., of Watertown, N.Y.; daughters Chung Sook Martino of Haughton, Chung Ae Stone of The Woodlands, Texas, Ponya Beresko of Haughton, Jo Townsend and Lianne Townsend both of
Watertown, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
