Funeral services for Vergie Lee Martin LaCaze, 90, of Leesville, will be
held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Oak Forest Baptist Church in Leesville with Rev. Morris Goins, Rev. Millard Monk and Rev. Chad Longoria officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Mora, under the direction of Labby
Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 until the time of service Friday, April 22, 2011, at the church.
Vergie, the daughter of Abram Gene and Tempie Ann Snell Martin
was born on December 29, 1920, in Hutton. She passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at her residence in Leesville. She was a native of Hutton but lived in Leesville almost all her life. She was a graduate of Simpson High School. She worked as a
nurse’s assistant for Broyles Clinic and Leesville General. She was also a cook at Vernon Elementary until her retirement. She was a long-time member of Oak Forest Baptist Church where she was a member of WMU and the choir and had served as church
treasurer.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie R. Martin; second husband, J.D. LaCaze; son, Doyal Martin; daughter, Joy Faye Baker; brothers; and sisters.
She is survived by her son, Roger Martin and wife
Carmen of Leesville; daughters, Nelda Woods andhusband, Bill of Angleton, Texas, Pat Golden and husband, Dale of Alvin, Texas, Karen Nash and husband, Gary of Leesville and Jeanine Martin of Leesville; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 5
great great grandchildren.
