Huey Sterling

Funeral services for Huey P. Sterling, 74, of Hornbeck, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hornbeck with Rev. John Northway officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the
direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.

Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church from 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, until the service on Thursday.

Huey, the son of David
Walter and Mattie West Sterling, was born October 1, 1936, in Hornbeck. He passed away Monday, May 16, 2011, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria.

Mr. Sterling was employed with the State Forestry Service for 21
years, serving as a Crew Leader for 15 years. He was the first Fire Chief for the Town of Hornbeck. Mr. Sterling served four years in the National Guard. He was an avid fox hunter.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years,
Elizabeth Sterling; one daughter, Kathy Owers and husband Grover, Jr. of Hornbeck; two sons, Jerry Sterling and wife Sherri of Many, and Terry Sterling of Hornbeck; one brother, Huey M. Stidivent and wife Dot of Vidor, Texas; three sisters, Faye
Manes and husband Gene of Hornbeck, Ann Dean of Irvin, California, and Bert Weeks of Anacoco, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill Sterling and Henry
Sterling.
