John “Claiborne” Jackson

He was born November 3, 1926. He was an avid outdoorsman and a life-long resident of Simpson. He passed away shortly before midnight June 2, 2011 in Leesville.
He retired from Roy O. Martin Lumber Company where he had worked
for over 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jasper and Nancy Burns Jackson and siblings, Zada Hicks, Gentry Jackson and Sadie Stanley.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Barbara Bennett Jackson; two sisters,
Bonnie Wise of Simpson and Lavada Balsam of Alabama; daughter and son-in-law, Nedra and Billy Taylor of Anacoco; grandchildren, two of whom he helped raise, Allison Gilcrease, Joseph (Petey) Hebert, Jenna Taylor and Jessica Taylor; five great
grandchildren and an out pouring of nieces and nephews. His kind, compassionate, jolly spirit will be sorely missed.
Friends may visit from 4-9 p.m. on Monday at Simpson Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 7,
2011 at Simpson Baptist Church, with Rev. Jereme Blocker officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery under the direction of Heritage Rowe Funeral Home.
