Vergie Lea Westbrook

Vergie Lea Westbrook 87, of Hornbeck went to be with the Lord on May 17,
2012.
Vergie was born in Hornbeck on Sept. 1, 1924 to Sim Self and Exia Morrison Self.
Vergie was of the Baptist faith and a member of Prewitt Chapel in Hornbeck. She was a lifetime resident of Vernon Parish and loved her work
as a volunteer at Hodges Gardens. Vergie loved to help others with her guidance and support. She worked at Broyles Clinic in Leesville as an Insurance Administrator, which is now known as Byrd Regional. Vergie loved her family and never met anyone
that she couldn’t call a friend. Vergie worked 10 years for Hixson Funeral Home as a hostess and friend to the bereaved.
Vergie is preceded in death by her parents, Sim Self and Exia Morrison Self; loving husband, Howard “Rip” Westbrook;
and brothers, Olen Self of Hornbeck and Hoy Self of Shreveport.
Vergie is survived by son, Victor Westbrook of Houston; daughter, Debbie Hatchet and husband, Kenny Sr. of Hornbeck; two grandchildren, Kenny Hatchet Jr. and Kelly Hatchet;
and three great-grandchildren, Haley and Kayden Hatchet and Trent Lilly.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on May 19 at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on May 20 at Prewitt Chapel in Hornbeck. Bro.
Haymon, Bro. Davis and Bro Wayne Chance will be officiating. Pallbearers will include David Chance, Douglas Chance, Larry Chance, Carl Chance, Wayne Chance and Victor Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be Pat Stewart, Bobby Stewart, Dwight (Bud)
Williams, Joey Williams, Mike Behan and Worth Roberts. Burial will follow in Self Cemetery in Hornbeck under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Leesville.
