James A Stermer

James A. Stermer, of Leesville died on May 21, 2012, in Alexandria, at
Cabrini Grace Home after a long fight with heart disease.?Over the past several years Jim exhibited a strong desire to live and enjoy life in spite of failing health.
Jim was born on Sept. 12, 1947 in York, Penn. to the late Goldie and
Vernon Stermer. He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years. He also worked as a manager for Breaud-Cantu at Fort Polk for a number of years. He was a member of VFW #3106.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Goldie and Vernon Stermer and
one grandchild, Justin Legg.?Jim is survived by his wife, Sadie (Legg) Stermer. He also leaves behind two children, Michael Stermer and Kari Beth Phelps, both of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Phyllis Kern and Debra Amspacher of Pennsylvania;
stepchildren, Barbra Cart, Darrell Legg, Deborah Shealy and Bruce Legg, all of Leesville; grandchildren, Patrick and Kady Cart, Christie Teska, Andrew and Olivia Legg, Dawn Almond, Jessica and Clay Shealy, and Brandie Tackett; great-grandchildren,
Jacob Cart, Megan Legg, Allie and Keelie Teska, Dallas Chance, Gracie and Witt Almond, Abbygayle Wil, Hinslie, and Haleigh Shealy, Spryte Taylor and Lacey Stermer, and Camden, Katie, and Braden Tackett; and one great-great-grandchild, McKenna
Averitt.
Visitation will be held from 7-10 p.m. on May 24 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home in Leesville. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on May 25 at Labby Memorial Funeral Home, with burial following at Castor Baptist Church.
