Funeral services Richie A. Jarrell, 46, of Evans will be held at 10 a.m. on Sept. 10 at Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Burr Ferry with Rev. Melvin Smith and Rev. George Jeane officiating. Burial will follow in the Plunkaway
Cemetery in Burr Ferry under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept.9, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Sept. 10 at the church.
Richie was
born July 3, 1966, in Leesville; he passed away on Sept. 6, 2012 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston.
He was preceded in death by his father, Windal A. Jarrell; brothers, Windal Gary Jarrell and Jesse Martin Jarrell; his paternal
grandparents, Jesse W. and Venia S. Jarrell and his maternal grandparents Grady A. and Viola C. Kennedy.
Richie was a member of Oak Grove Congregational Methodist Church. He worked as an insulator for the Local 112. He loved to fish, Ford
vehicles, was an avid NASCAR, LSU and Dallas Cowboys fan, but more than that, he simply just loved to “Piddle.”
He is survived by his mother, Wanda and husband John W. Jordan of Wiergate, Texas; sisters, Lisa and husband Louis “Bill”
Verret of Baytown, Texas and Teresa Smith of Burr Ferry; nieces, Heather Jarrell Havener, Melissa Meaux and Holly Jarrell; nephews, Clayton Meaux and Brady Smith; one great-niece and two great-nephews.
The family has requested that
memorial donations be made to the St Luke’s Foundation, P. O. Box 4332, Houston, TX 77030.
