Mrs. Starks was born to William Dewey and Myrtie Ella Wilson Self on Sept. 24, 1938 and went to be with her
Lord on Feb. 24, 2013. She passed from this life at Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Josephine and her husband were Home Missionaries in Louisiana, starting new churches in Minnesota, and Virginia. They became Foreign Missionaries to
Germany, Singapore and Malaysia spending many years overseas. She was a member of the Pentecostals of Alexandria for many years and more recently New Life Harvest Tabernacle.
She enjoyed her fruit trees and flowers. She made many jars of
jams and preserves that she shared with others. She loved to share her knowledge about these things with younger families passing on the trade. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister that will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in
death by her husband Reverend Dale R. Starks and her parents William Dewey and Myrtie Ella Wilson Self.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son John D. Starks and wife Cora, of Keller, Texas; granddaughter, Ruth Ann Starks,
Alexandria; brothers, Monroe Self and wife Shirley, of Forest City, North Carolina; George Self and wife Helen, of Anacoco; Dennis Self and Isabella, of Many; Sister, Millie Weiss and husband Tim, of Huffman, Texas; and her pets Fraulein and
