Viola E. Schneider

Funeral services for Viola E. “Vi” Jarrell Schneider, 91, of Shreveport,
will be held at 1 p.m. on June 11 at the Cooper Baptist Church in Pickering with Revs. Edgar Evans and Tom Carlton officiating. Burial will follow in the Canaan Cemetery in Leesville, under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of
Leesville.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. on June 10, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 11 in the church.
Viola, the daughter of Isaac S. Wiens and Emma Saffran, was born Feb. 7, 1922 in Beaver County, Okla. She passed
away June 7, 2013 in Shreveport.
Vi retired from the federal civil service as a head cashier and also drove a school bus in Evans for many years. She was extremely active in the Vernon Parish community, serving as an officer for the local
AARP, member of the Senior Circle, a volunteer at Byrd Regional Hospital, and served as an election commissioner for a number of years. She was a former member of the Cooper Baptist Church in Pickering and a current member of the Grawood Baptist
Church in Keithville.
After retirement she traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states, Europe, Panama and Argentina. She loved all games, especially card games and dominos, and was a fierce competitor.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; first husband, Milton V. Schneider; second husband, Jullian M. Jarrell; sisters, Ruth Arp and Laura Moore; brother, Lawrence Wiens; and two infant brothers.
Vi is survived by her daughters, Denice and John “James”
Creech of Frierson, Vicki and John Belton of Leesville, and her “Nutter” daughter Ann Bolton of Leesville; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren
Vi truly brought a “Ray of Sunshine” to the hearts
and lives of everyone she touched, and her last request was that everyone would remember and know how much she loved them.
She and her family wanted to thank the nurses and medical staff at Willis-Knighton South Medical Center for their
great care and concern during her extended stay, April through May.
