Alligood, Tebbe combine for no-hitter as Anacoco beat Weston

JONESBORO – The Weston Wolves asked if they could play in the Class B semifinals next week in Sulphur.
But Landry Alligood and Drew Tebbe had the response for the Anacoco Indians.
No-no!
Alligood and Tebbe combined on a no-hitter, while Reid Rodriguez drove in four runs as the second-seeded Indians pounded the Wolves in the Class B quarterfinals at the Jackson Parish Sports Complex on Saturday, 15-0.
With the win, the Indians advanced to the Class B semifinals on Tuesday in Sulphur, where they will face the Elizabeth Bulldogs at 10 a.m. on Field 40.
After a scoreless first inning, the Indians managed to take advantage of a couple of Weston miscues to score six runs. Three of the runs scored when Dylan Fitzgerald reached on an dropped infield fly ball, which would have ended the inning had it be caught. But instead, the Indians opened up a 6-0 lead.
Anacoco pushed four runs across in the third to make the score, 10-0. The Indians added five more runs over the next two innings, getting a home run from both Tebbe and Rodriguez to seal the deal.
Tebbe worked the first two innings, giving up no runs on no hits with one strikeout. However, he allowed one baserunner via the walk.
Alligood faced just nine batters in his three innings, striking out eight en route to earning the victory.
Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and four RBIs, while Fitzgerald was responsible for two RBIs.
Gentry Bennett had a pair of hits and a run scored, while Zach Benevage and Chase Taylor each had two hits, three runs scored and an RBI apiece.
Kaden Shirley suffered the loss for Weston as the lefty gave up 13 runs on 11 hits.
