Our Daddy and “Big Daddy” Harry Goodwin passed
from this life on Nov. 23, 2013. He was the successful owner and operator of AAA Welding Shop from 1955 until retiring at the age of 94 in 2007. Mr. Goodwin, “Big Daddy,” loved to read the bible and pray earnestly for others. He was a dedicated
Christian and faithful volunteer at Woodlands Nursing Home and Byrd Regional Hospital for many years. Mr. Goodwin never met a stranger or held a grudge. He was truly an angel who helped many people less fortunate than himself. Big Daddy loved his
family with all he had, and taught us many valuable lessons. He is now reunited and having a joyous reunion with his wife, Bertha “Goody” Goodwin of 72 years in heaven. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Goodwin; parents EJ and Lilly
Goodwin; brothers, James and Bobby Goodwin; and sisters, Lillian Hymns, Jean Robinette, Inez Eagles, and Nellie Mummy.
Survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Terry and Conrad Cannon; son, Dr. Harry Goodwin Jr. and wife Alicia;
granddaughters, Tracy Bedell, Wendy Bedell Kreps and husband Scott, and Tiffany Bedell Quayhagen; grandsons and wives, Dr. Brett Goodwin and wife Liz, and Brandon Goodwin and wife Paige; great-grandchildren, Mallory Bedell Berryman and husband Colby,
Josh Quayhagen, Elijah Quayhagen, Karsen Kreps, Korie Kreps, Maci Quayhagen, and Jessie Dubois; and great-great-grandchildren, Wyatt Berryman, Mary Goodwin, and Liza Goodwin.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Nov. 26 at the First
Baptist Church of Leesville, with Dr. Jerry Penefield, Wallace Palmer and Rev. Maurice Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Leesville Cemetery, under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service of Leesville.
Visitation will be held
from 5-8 p.m. on Nov. 25, and from 8 a.m. until the time of services on Nov. 26, at First Baptist Church of Leesville.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Harry Goodwin Jr., Scott Kreps, Brandon Goodman, Dr. Bret Goodwin, Elijah Quayhagen and Bob
Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers are Colby Quayhagen, Conrad Cannon, Josh Quayhagen and Colby Berrryman.
