Betty Sue Polson Compton, 84, of Pitkin, La., went
to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, while at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be missed dearly.
Those left to cherish her memory
are her husband of 64 years, Tom Compton, Sr., of Pitkin, La., her children, Patricia Roberts and husband Don of Pitkin, La., Rebecca Landry and husband, Charles of Boyce, La., and Thomas Compton Jr. and wife, Martha, of Jonesboro, Ark., her brother,
Raymond Polson and wife, Lavette of Blanchard, La., five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1931 in New Orleans, La., daughter of the late Ralph and Ruby Polson. For most of her life she was a member of
First Baptist Church Pitkin, where she served for many years as a teacher in Sunday School and Bible School, and choir member. Educated at Northwestern State University, she became a devoted teacher for more than 30 years at Pitkin High School.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church Pitkin with Bro. Jeremy McCrory & Bro. Brian Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at the Blue Branch Cemetery in Pitkin. Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 11,
2015 at First Baptist Church Pitkin from 5-9 p.m. and continues Wednesday, from 8 a.m. until time of the service 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home or First Baptist Church Pitkin
Mission Fund.
