Funeral services for SGM Milton Melvin Matthai (Ret) will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015, 11 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3393 Hwy. 489 S., Lacamp, with Rev. Sherman Busby officiating. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery
under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Visitation will begin on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, at 1 p.m. and continue until time of service on Thursday.
Milton M. Matthai was born on Dec. 13, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland,
to William and Anna Oberle Matthai. He passed away on Oct. 19, 2015 at the age of 74 in Alexandria. He served 29 years in the United States Army and retired as a SGM. He served his country in the Vietnam war. Upon his retirement, he attended trade
school to become a carpenter and worked in the construction business. He enjoyed his family, camping, and fishing. Mr. Matthai was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Gisela Matthai of Slagle; son: William “Billy” and wife Monica Matthai of Slagle; daughters: Debbie and husband Mike Carradine, of Leesville, and Betty Jo “BJ” and husband Christopher Martin, of
LaCamp; brother: Edwin Matthai; grandchildren: Kristina Matthai, Melanie Williams, Kelton Wyatt-Carradine, Dalton Matthai, and Matthew Martin.
